April Board Leadership Roundtable: Leading Changes as a Board Member

Executive Director & Board Relationships

Monday, April 6, 2020 (11:30-1:00pm)

CHANGE! What makes change so threatening? Maybe because change causes transition, and transition starts with an ending, as William Bridges said. But it also opens possibility, creativity and life.

It is important that board members show up as their best leaderful selves to support or lead organizations through times of change and transition. Join NorCAN for April’s Board Leadership Roundtable where we’ll explore organizational change from a governance perspective. Discussion will include

·         Stages of change and why its resisted

·         Common changes that are particularly difficult for nonprofits

·         How to show up as board members in ways that reduce fear and resistance to change

·         Communication, accountability and decision making in times of change

·         The ED and board president’s roles in facilitating change effectively

NorCAN’s March Board Leadership Roundtable will help you explore your nonprofit’s sustainability. Discussion topics include:

·         Timelines and data used for organizational planning and decision making

·         Adaptability

·         Ability to secure resources and determining how effectively the organization is at managing those resources

·         Having a clear vision and strategy

·         Strength of leadership and the importance of that leadership reflecting demographics in the community
