Grant Agreement
Humboldt Area Foundation Community Grant Program supports a broad spectrum of projects that help build strong communities on the North Coast. We are not currently accepting applications for the Community Grant Program. Proposals will be accepted again in October 2010. Please call us if you have any questions: 707-442-2993.
Field of Interest Grant Program
Humboldt Area Foundation’s Field of Interest Grant Program was created to connect donors with community projects in their specific areas of interest. The program brings together a collection of funds that focus on specific populations, geographical areas and/or causes.
Field of Interest grants will be available now and through November 1, 2010 for the following categories:
Field of Interest: Arts & Culture
Victor Thomas Jacoby Award
Jacoby, an internationally recognized tapestry weaver, established a fund to "encourage the exploration of new ideas, materials, techniques, mediums, images, etc, as well as excellence." The cash grant will be made annually to an artist or craftsperson currently residing in Humboldt County. In 2008, the award will be open to all artists and crafts people of Humboldt County.
Ruth Marcus Memorial Writing Scholarship
Ruth was a devoted mother, sister and friend and was active in the creative arts from an early age as a radio, TV and film actress, pianist and writer. This grant will be awarded to an aspiring writer of any age who will use it for "The Greatest Good" and further his or her individual interest in writing professionally.
Peter E. Palmquist Grant for Historical Photographic Research
This annual grant supports the study of under-researched women photographers internationally
and Western American photographers before 1900.
Project Grants to Artists range from $500 to $5000. Priorities are given to exemplary art which actively engages the community in the process or the product of the art.
Redwood Empire Quilters Guild
The REQG promotes the appreciation and knowledge of quilts throughout Humboldt County. The fund will cover material costs, provide honoraria for instructors, curators and artists for workshops and classes; and support fellowships for individuals to attend educational programs related to the fiber arts field.
Lynne & Bob Wells Grant for Performing Artists
An annual grant is given from this donor-advised fund for excellence in the performing arts.
The award is open to performing artists residing in Humboldt County.

Native Cultures Fund
Initiated and led by Native Peoples, the Native Culture Fund supports Native arts, cultural revitalization and cultural transmission between generations. Grants and regional gatherings focus on methods of building greater cultural participation in communities. The service area includes northern and central California.

Community Partnerships with Native Artists (CPNA)
This initiative, funded in partnership with the Ford Foundation, will support community partnerships with native artists that produce art of outstanding quality and cultural significance while engaging communities in a process of healing. NCF defines healing as the renewal of traditional relationships with a tribe, across tribes, across cultures and with the land. It is not therapy nor designed to achieve the health goal of the individual but rather builds community relationships in a social ceremony addressing areas of community healing in a meaningful way.

Technical Assistance Program (TAP) - We are not currently accepting proposals for TAP. We will resume accepting applications in October 2010. Humboldt Area Foundation’s Technical Assistance Program provides grants to strengthen and improve organizations, their leadership or operations in the areas of strategic planning, board development, marketing/public relations, collaborations, fundraising planning, financial management, personnel issues, operational assessments and executive coaching. TAP applications and information are confidential and will not affect other potential Humboldt Area Foundation grant funding. TAP grant applications are accepted on the first of each month and grants that are awarded are paid directly to a consultant to cover the costs of their consulting services.
TOPScholarships
North Coast residents have created over 200 scholarship funds at the Humboldt Area Foundation to honor their loved ones, to support higher education and to help foster the improvement of area students as they pursue their diverse ambitions. Scholarships range from $250 to $7,500 and applications are due in the Spring each year.
