Humboldt Area Foundation works with donors to offer scholarships for local students, including high school seniors, vocational students and re-entering or current college students. With one application, Humboldt, Trinity, Siskiyou, and Del Norte County students can apply for up to 79 different scholarships ranging from $250 to $7,500 for the 2011-2012 school year. Created by local residents to honor their loved ones and to support their local students in pursuit of their diverse ambitions, these scholarships feature a wide range of criteria. Examples include: financial need, ethnic heritage, area of study, academic achievement, community service, athletic involvement, and having a relative who was a graduate of a Humboldt County high school or who is a current Humboldt State University employee.
