The Technical Assistance Program (TAP) is a project of the Rooney Resource Center, within the Humboldt Area Foundation. As with other Resource Center services, TAP is available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity counties.
About TAP TAP is a small award program which provides nonprofits with one-on-one technical assistance in a variety of forms: consultants, training workshops, self-pace manuals, software, or any other form identified by applicants. TAP awards typically range from $500 to $2,000. Funds must be used to improve the organization, its leadership or operations, as a whole; not on programs or projects of the agency. Areas of assistance may include: strategic planning, financial management, operational assessments, board development, program assessments, personnel issues, collaborations, and fundraising.
TAP will not pay for grantwriting, programmatic development or for duties that are typically handled by staff (e.g. data entry). Organizations less than a year old and government entities are not eligible for TAP funds but should ask about our Customized Board Seminars.
Please note: TAP applications and information shared with Resource Center staff and the TAP selection committee during the evaluation process will not reflect on grant applications to the Humboldt Area Foundation. The TAP selection committee does not include Foundation board members and makes award decisions independently. The foundation board recognizes the many challenges faced by local nonprofits and encourages the use of TAP.
