How To Apply For Humboldt
Area Foundation Scholarship Opportunities.
Humboldt Area Foundation works with donors to offer scholarships for local students, including high school seniors, vocational students and re-entering or current college students. With one application, Humboldt and Del Norte County students can apply for up to 50 different scholarships ranging from $250 to $7,500 for the 2007-2008 school year. Created by local residents to honor their loved ones and to support local students in pursuit of their diverse ambitions, these scholarships feature a wide range of criteria.

Examples include: financial need, ethnic heritage, area of study, academic achievement, community service, athletic involvement, and having a relative who was a graduate of a Humboldt County high school or who is a current Humboldt State University employee.

For the convenience of applicants, the Scholarship Application is available for download directly below, in Word or PDF format. Paper copies are also available in school counseling offices and at the Humboldt Area Foundation Community Center. Applications are not accepted online or by email, complete applications must be delivered or postmarked no later than  >See Calendar for Application Deadlines.

Many scholarships are available through local schools, ask your high school counselor, financial aid officer or college department how to apply. Humboldt State University maintains a searchable online Database of Local Scholarships. College of the Redwoods has a listing of scholarships available through the scholarship office.

If you are still in high school, you may also be eligible for College Knowledge. The College Knowledge program helps local students (and their families) get the information they need to attend the college of their choice. College Knowledge provides tutoring as well as information about college preparation, careers, financial aid and study skills. The program serves 9-12th grade students at Mattole Triple Junction, Hoopa Valley, Eureka and Fortuna High. For more information, visit College Knowledge on-line or ask a guidance counselor about College Knowledge.

NOTE: Once you have downloaded the Application in WORD or PDF, go to the EDIT command and select FIND (or Ctrl F). This is where you can enter any specific words that will help you find a particular scholarship criteria.
