'Tis the season of giving … and for Humboldt’s Holiday Funding Partnership, it’s the season of giving grants!

Now in its fifteenth year, the Humboldt Area Foundation — along with the Smullin Foundation, the McLean Foundation, the Union Labor Health Foundation and St. Joseph Health — the partnership was able to give out $54,000 in holiday grants to local organizations.

More than forty recipients that go above and beyond to help their communities will now have some extra funds this holiday season, ranging from $1,500 to $2,000 a piece.

In this LoCO Video Report we get to hear from a few of them, Food for People, the Arcata Presbyterian Church and the Manila Community Resource Center, and find out more about their philanthropic efforts, and how they’ll use the funds to ensure happy holidays for those they serve.

“We’ll use the funds to make sure it’s something special,” said Food for People director Anne Holcomb. “Everybody likes to gather together for a meal around the holidays and that’s what holds us together as family, friends and community.”
