The Northern California Association of Nonprofits (NorCAN) has chosen Byrd Lochtie to receive the 2017 Nonprofit Leader Achievement Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday December 5 at Confluence, NorCAN’s biennial regional nonprofit leadership conference; the event takes place at the Sequoia Conference Center in Eureka from 8am-4pm.

Lochtie has worked as a consultant, trainer, coach, and mentor with hundreds of nonprofit leaders during the course of her career. She specializes in helping leaders to understand and be more effective in their roles, with a particular emphasis on working together to set organizational vision and strategy to advance their missions. Byrd has been a key partner and trainer for NorCAN – fostering learning, mentoring, relationship building, and excellence in leadership through monthly Board Leadership Roundtables and Introduction to Board Service workshops for many years.

“Byrd Lochtie is a tireless champion for community democracy and we are excited to publicly recognize her decades of service to the region,” said Amy Jester, NorCAN Program Director.

Lochtie has served in leadership positions in a variety of local organizations, including the League of Women Voters of Humboldt County, Children’s Authors Festival, the Humboldt County Human Rights Commission, United Way, Girl Scouts, Eureka City Schools Board of Trustees, and many more.
